Year 4
2000 brought the New Millennium, and some big changes in the personal lives of several OTF members, and the methods by which the site was run itself.
In September 2000, two of our membership got married -- Oilymion and CPAK. However, the two waited until that December before revealing it. It was also in that same month that Glenn married Jaden Korr. Soon more good news followed as Toddy and Jon married in May of 2001. And not long afterward CT and JJ tied the knot.
Also, on December 5 2000, the formation of a new department was announced. The primary task for this department was to focus on "All Entertainment Aspects of the Outpost". Nearly one month later, the Outpost 10F Entertainment Network (OTFEN) was well under way with new projects and teams. Trivia and Gaming Teams both transferred to this new Network, and a third, new team was established with the Simming Team's formation.
In June of 2001 the Outpost grew both in the number of members and projects. It was soon apparent that it had outgrown it's original "Domain Hosting Plan" with Intergate. The decision to purchase a web server was made.
Such a plan was going to be expensive and would require the financial support of the OTF membership base. In order to fund the server and associated server parking fees the Outpost made "Members Accounts" available.
Members were able to purchase an account for hosting a web site under the Outpost 10F domain name. Due to the outstanding support of core community members enough funds were obtained through the sale of Members Accounts. This allowed for the purchase of the server and pay for its connection to the Internet.
Once OTF got its own server to work with, the possibilities for site additions and enhancements became almost endless. Departments got their own subdomain for hosting their content. Databases were also developed for storing data which could be shared across all Outpost websites and applications.
In July of 2001 the second official Outpost10F union took place in Amsterdam, Holland. It had a larger turn out than the first union. It is still today regarded as the best union ever.
