Year 6

The 6th year of OTF began with the launch of the The Ikonboard Forums. This afforded every member the chance to air their views to the community. However, it also allowed members to interact with others they wouldn't necessarily see in chat, by partaking in debates, humorous threads, on-going conversations or by simply playing one of the many forum games that take place there.

Then, on December 1st 2002, another new addition was made to OTF. The Outpost broadened it's appeal by introducing a Fantasy genre to the predominantly Science Fiction chat site. A new chat room accompanied this and OTF became home to Alder Hill. Yet, after only six months Alder Hill departed. However, Alder Hill reopened on August 15th under it's own domain, and has since become a sister site to Outpost 10F.

In January 2003 a new project was launched. The Schematics project was to be a flash application that provided a blue-print of the Outpost, containing links to site data and Members Accounts. Those who had purchased Members Accounts with the intention of supporting the web server in 2001 were now able to link their homepages up with a room inside the Outpost.

Also in 2003 the Outpost 10F web server was moved from the location it was housed. The server was transferred from a data centre to an office building in Vancouver. Due to this change OTF was able to cut server parking costs significantly. This allowed the site to expand on it's technical possibilities, and set the stage for a decrease in the price of Member Accounts.
